Artist's Comments

I wanted to scribble a rainy picture. Rain is a CONSTANT source of inspirtion in this country...
I like the rain, especally when its good and heavy fat water droplets. Thats real Welsh rain.

The character? Beats me who she really is. Someone asked me today who was one of the characers in my sketchbook. To me its obvious who they are, but it may only be a part of their character. For instance maybe the girl in the picture is the part of me who smiles at the rain because even a rainy day can be full of fun.
But thats not all i am, and maybe thats not all she is.

Watercolour and black and white ink.

Wow that looks great! It reminds me of Chinese paintings (or is it something else?) I like the way you drew the rain drops.

I can hear the raindrops splashing down. Great job.

Some people find rain depressing, but I find it nostalgic and beautiful; I feel alive when it rains.

Holy wow! I was just thinking the other day you haven't submitted anything for a while and then BAM devious brilliance! This is so very very good. I love the flow you worked into the hair, the way you used the thickness of the line to simplify and accentuate things and the way she bleeds into (or out of?) the water. Also the bright contrast between the character and the umbrella, the way the pale skin tone echoes the hair making the figure more tranquil and the subtle hints of blue in the sky which I only just noticed.

Big kudos on the rain, the white/black ink really gives it layers. I must admit I'm surprised by how well the white ink covers the background; I don't work with inks much, but with paint white over black usually requires three or four coats...

Instant favourite :D

White gel pens eh? Sound like I'm going to the stationairium!

I'm one of the folk on a Masters course so I actually have another year of crazy learning related fun before I get unleashed onto the real world. My year exams are in a couple of weeks now so I'm procrastinating like crazy for the moment :)

This is brilliant - it makes me very happy indeed. I think you should enter the Okami Contest with something like this... maybe even this?

The rain is excellent. I love it :';) *tear*
